Unofficial Draft of Alignment Policy November 2010: The Center State Conference is a large, diverse league with membership from schools within Chenango, Herkimer, Oneida, Otsego, and Madison counties. Schools within the conference vary in size ranging from an enrollment of about 50 to 380 and the distance from school to school on the far edges of the conference may exceed 50 miles one way. The CSC recognizes that it must meet the needs of all its athletes in a fair and just manner while taking into consideration competitive balance, local rivalries, geography, and size of division while creating alignments and schedules. Individual school input will be sought in the creation of league alignments; however, they will be created to benefit the league as a whole and not to benefit any one particular school. Alignments will be created by a committee of athletic directors and presented to superintendents for their review prior to a vote being taken by athletic directors for their adoption. A majority vote (three-fourths of the league Athletic Directors present) would be required to adopt any new alignments.
